The story of KHRA began in the sixties.

It was a time when restaurant associations and unions were scattered across Kerala. There was no unity and no development. Then came a visionary, B Govinda Rao, who was the owner of Bharat Tourist Home Now Knows as Bharat Hotel in Kochi. With a passion to develop the industry, he set out to unify the entire hospitality community across Kerala. Unity is strength, after all. He traveled all over Kerala meeting with owners and convincing them to unite under a single body. Many of them listened, but many declined.

In 1964, after putting in relentless efforts, Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association was formed with a dozen members under its wing. Keralavarma Raja of Poonjar became the president and Shri. Govinda Rao became the General Secretary. Since then, the community has grown steadily. KHRA Bhavan in Ernakulam was established by Commander K. Kuriakose, a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in shaping the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA). He served as Secretary, State President, and Patron, and was the founder of KHRA Care Bhavan and Mercy Foundation.

In honor of Commander K.Kuriakose's legacy, KHRA continues to carry out numerous charitable initiatives in his name, commemorating his dedication even after his passing in 2009 while serving as State Patron.Fast forward to 2025, KHRA has over 50,000 members including, restaurateurs, hoteliers, cafe and bakery owners, etc.In 2020, KHRA took a new step. We established a Digital Empowerment Center for bringing advancements to the industry. Soon after, Kerala's own food delivery app, Rezoy, was launched to the public as its first project. As it stands, several new and exciting plans are in development for the future.
